My mate Dan tagged me in a status about making a list of the ten records that have had the most impact on his life. It’s an interesting topic, I think, and one I’ve thought about a lot.
Some records stick with you because they’re brilliant, but that’s not what I think this is about. Some of these records are in here because they’ve made me think, remind me of periods of my life or made me see music in a new way. With that in mind, here’s my ten.
1) The Agony Scene - Get Damned
2) The Menzingers - On The Impossible Past
3) The Gaslight Anthem - The ‘59 Sound
4) Dave Hause - Devour
5) Darkest Hour - Undoing Ruin
6) Apologies, I Have None - London
7) Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind
8) ONSIND - Dissatisfactions
9) Alkaline Trio - Good Mourning
10) Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska
I never use this blog, so I thought I might as well start. If you don’t know, I brew my own beer in my spare time under the banner of the Expat Brewery. I mainly do it for a laugh, but luckily my output so far has actually been alright! This weekend I decided to share some of my adventures with you, you lucky lot. Armed with nothing but a shopping basket full of ingredients, a vague recipe gleaned from the dark corners of the internet and a (probably misplaced) sense of optimism, I launched my first shot at brewing a beer completely from scratch.
This year’s weather really doesn’t have a clue what it’s doing, which means that I needed something which was not only refreshing enough for a picnic in the sun, but also a perfect drink for when you get chased back inside by the rain. There’s only one thing I know which can serve those needs: ginger beer.
